River Grove is a Marine Area Community School is a K-6 public charter school located in Marine on St. Croix, MN. River Grove is a teacher-powered school, meaning that the teaching community is responsible for developing and delivering the project-based learning programs.
Situation
The Virtual Technology Coordinator or vTC program from Technology By Design offers to schools a way for educational organizations with a limited budget to achieve unlimited possibilities and achieve their IT goals by leveraging the depth of a 20+ member organization for significantly less than a fulltime technology staff member would cost. River Grove connected with Technology By Design through a member of their community, and after a brief meeting, approved funding for Technology By Design to provide vTC services.
Strategy & Solution
The vTC program offers everything from strategy, design, project management and onsite project implementation to e-Rate funding assistance. Technology By Design was given the opportunity to help design and implement the site-wide technology systems and classroom technology tools from the ground up for the school.
Success
Technology By Design designed and managed the buildout of low-voltage cabling and Wi-Fi infrastructure for the multi-building site, and deployed all classroom technology – including Microsoft Surface devices for teachers, interactive SMARTboard technologies for large group instruction and student Chromebooks for individual learning.
